As you may know, this past Sunday, my camera broke. The lens is stuck in the extended position and I can't even get it to turn on. If you are anything like me, this is a devastating occurrence. I have a 14 month old baby for starters. I want to capture as many of his moments as I can, and he seems to change by the minute. So as horrible of a thing as this was to have happen, I was lucky enough to have the means to purchase a new camera. I am so very Thankful for that!
I had actually been secretly wanting a new camera for a while. Since I have taken on some new endeavors that involve my publishing photos for all to see, I feel as though they should be decent quality. Not that my camera was terrible, it just lacked a few features I desired. I'm almost certain my husband thinks I broke my camera on purpose so I could get a new one. I didn't. I promise.
Anyhow, I did a little research and set my sights on what I thought I wanted, and then Wednesday after work I picked up Evan and headed to the mall. When the guy helping me pointed to the empty shelf where the camera I wanted should have been located, I was disappointed. We got to talking about the features I was looking for and if I could order the camera, yada, yada, yada. Turns out, a different model was a better fit for me. And, it was $100 cheaper. Score!
I ended up with a Nikon COOLPIX S8200.
I wanted to take a picture of my actual camera, with my camera, but clearly that is impossible. I don't want to get into the specs, and all that, you can look into it if that sort of thing interests you. I am not well versed in that kind of thing. But from what I understand it takes better quality photos than the more expensive model, whose better feature was the zoom, which I am not all that interested in. It should be great for close ups for recipes and for items in my shop. It also works well in low light and for moving objects, like a toddler! So far so good!
What are you thankful for today?
